چکیده

The multiplicity and elliptic flow of charged particles produced in Pb-Pb collisions at center of mass energy √ sNN = 2.76 TeV from the Large Hadron Collider are studied in a multiphase transport (AMPT) model. With the standard parameters in the HIJING model, which is used as initial conditions for subsequent partonic and hadronic scatterings in the AMPT model, the resulting multiplicity of final charged particles at mid-pseudorapidity is consistent with the experimental data measured by the ALICE Collaboration. This value is, however, increased by about 25% if the final-state partonic and hadronic scatterings are turned off. Because of final-state scatterings, particularly those among partons, the final elliptic flow of charged hadrons is also consistent with the ALICE data if a smaller but more isotropic parton scattering cross section than previously used in the AMPT model for describing the charged hadron elliptic flow in heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider is used. The resulting transverse momentum spectra of charged particles as well as the centrality dependence of their multiplicity density and the elliptic flow are also in reasonable agreement with the ALICE data. Furthermore, the multiplicities, transverse momentum spectra, and elliptic flows of identified hadrons such as protons, kaons, and pions are predicted.

First results on the event – by – event fluctuations and correlations in Pb – Pb collisions at √ s NN = 2 . 76 TeV

Fluctuations of thermodynamic quantities are fundamental for the study of the QGP phase transition. Among several observables calculated on an event–by–event basis, the different measures of the charge and mean transverse momentum fluctuations are of particular interest since they are considered to be indicators of the existence and of the order of this transition as well as of the thermalizati...

Heavy flavour measurements in Pb – Pb collisions at √ s NN = 2 . 76 TeV with the ALICE experiment

The ALICE experiment measured the charm and beauty production in the semi-leptonic decay channels (electrons at mid-rapidity and muons at forward rapidities) and the D meson production in the hadronic decay channels at mid-rapidity in lead-lead collisions at √ s NN = 2.76 TeV and proton-proton collisions at √ s = 7 TeV and √ s = 2.76 TeV. The resulting nuclear modification factors will be prese...

Probing shadowed nuclear sea with massive gauge bosons in the future heavy-ion collisions

The production of the massive bosons Z0 and W± could provide an excellent tool to study cold nuclear matter effects and the modifications of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) relative to the parton distribution functions (PDFs) of a free proton in high-energy nuclear reactions at the LHC as well as in heavy-ion collisions (HIC) with much higher center-of-mass energies available in t...

Heavy-flavour and quarkonium measurements in Pb–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV with ALICE

We report on the latest results on heavy-flavour and J/ψ production at both midrapidity and forward rapidity, in Pb–Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV, measured with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. We present measurements of the nuclear modification factor for open heavy-flavours and J/ψ and compare these results to model predictions. Preliminary results on the elliptic flow of D mesons and J/ψ...

Charged particle production in Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions at ALICE

Global event observables are of fundamental importance in characterizing the properties of the strongly interacting medium created in heavy-ion collisions. The ALICE experiment at LHC measured charged particle multiplicity distributions in Pb-Pb collisions at √ sNN = 2.76 TeV in a wide pseudo-rapidity range (−5 < η < 5.5) exploiting different techniques. The production of high transverse moment...
